One Family Under God
Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon have lived lives of true love, traveling to the worst places on Earth in the pursuit of world peace and human happiness. They have offered solutions to the painful reality of Korea's division and international challenges – war and terrorism, hunger and poverty, inequality and wealth disparity, climate and ecological crises – while working to break down walls of religion, race, and borders marked by conflict and dispute. They have been advancing peace and unification movements with the vision of "One Family Under God" through their Unification Thought, which advocates interdependence, mutual prosperity, and universal values (共生 共榮 共義) transcending nations, religions, and ideologies.
In the midst of the 20th-century Cold War conflicts, they founded the International Federation for Victory Over Communism (1968), predicting the end of communism, and established the Citizens' Federation for the Unification of North and South Korea (1987) to promote worldwide Victory Over Communism activities and unification movements, based on true love, for the peaceful unification of the divided Korean Peninsula.
Furthermore, to resolve religious conflicts, one of the major causes of international disputes, they have been conducting interreligious and interdenominational movements since the 1970s. These included religious reconciliation and unity movements with leaders of major world religions including Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism. They are expanding comprehensive practical initiatives for a peaceful world across all sectors, including not only politics, economics, and society, but also religion, media, culture, arts, and sports.
The aspirations of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, who love peace, remain unchanged. Their goal is to create a peaceful world without pain, conflict, and antagonism, where all humanity can live happily as one family. This vision and ideology were formalized in the 2000s through the establishment of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF). Each year, current and former heads of state, religious leaders, and experts from all sectors engage in interdisciplinary, interreligious, interracial, and interregional dialogue to address critical global challenges, seeking paths to lasting peace by emphasizing spiritual values, universal ethics, responsible leadership, and the importance of good governance.
These efforts to build a path to peace continue today. Following the founders' vision, appointed Ambassadors for Peace from all sectors worldwide are expanding their positive influence by conducting specific practical activities in various fields, beyond dialogue and discourse, as peace-builders for the sake of a world of permanent peace.
